SEAN
6 a.m. on another September morning, Sean just comes out of his sleep, yawning to the ceiling. His orange Naje Surfboard under his arm, we go together across the Basque Country to decide to stop in Hendaye, the last town before the Spanish border.
First session in France since a long time for Sean and first session with this brand new Team Board Noserider 9’8x23´x3’. I had never checked any video of him before and discovering his surfing, I take a slap right in the lens. Noseride, stall, reverse foot, front side, back side … F**K ! Hendaye is on fire, grand-ma and grand-pa can’t believe it ! They all start to yelling at him, dancing, crying ! Jesus on the water !
By the way, Sean is also a painter living in L.A. California. He used to paint with a glass of red wine in one hand and a joint in the other. Using different mediums to make relief painting with, in my opinion, a Towmbly’s touch I like a lot. In his room of Pension Mariena in Guéthary Mikolos Sandor Dora was watching him painting, drinking, smoking and Sean made a tribute to his dead fellow.
See you soon Sean !
It’s been a weird year.
We have all seen and experienced a lot of loneliness, selfishness and fear of other lately.
May this reminds us to love each others and share…moments, food, toilet rolls, waves…
The movie “Circle of the Sun“ takes you on an almost surreal journey to Norway. It describes one Circle of the sun. One day of magic. Steep mountains, the ocean, the sun and the aurora borealis.
After 20 hours of driving, we couldn't care less to shake the rust off and hack into some waves. It has been about 10 months since we last ducked into the ocean and the spirits were high. Fantasizing about the first turn kept us awake while spearing through the French inland. A voyage with a promise of scoring.
North of Italy can get glassy and perfect for noseriding. Style master Ale Ponzanelli knows it, ad makes the best out of an unexpected sunset of good waves in Ligurian Sea, shot by the drone of Federico Romanello.
Due to COVID-19 both Oceanside and San Diego had their beaches shut down for a couple weeks. No surfing, walking, swimming. During that time it rained for about a week straight, which allowed for some new sandbars to be created from the opening of a river mouth and dredging.
So stoked to launch our first web serie called “Moments” featuring French surfer Arthur Bourbon surfing his home breaks in the Bask Country and Les Landes.
The first episode was shot in La Gravière just before the lockdown. A classic winter day in Hossegor, pumping waves, dark barrels, good fun. Share the stoke.
Many meteorologists have ironically nicknamed it “the monsoon”, the fact is that the flow of Atlantic currents of autumn / winter 2019 will certainly be remembered for the large frequency of swells generated.
Clovis Donizetti at home, Côte des Basques, Biarritz. Lost and found clips.
Last February I shoot Ophelie Ah-Kouen (WSL Longboard Tour) and her Boyfriend Raphael VIDOT. She went to Byron Bay just before the Noosa Longboard Open.
I met Caleb Cutmore in 2019 on a surf trip and was so confused as to why there was no footage of him to be found anywhere. Over the period of that trip we started putting together a plan for a project in 2020. COVID hit and our first few trips were postponed but after the countries four week lock down we started lining up swells and our work load to come together and film.
