BALINESE FUNK

It was just another trip to the tropical island Bali, Indonesia. I mean, they're all the same, aren't they?

I brought with me a few film cameras that I hardly used, far too many rolls of film, two surf boards, three cartridges of 8mm film and my not so trusty Canon 1014 xl-s.

I'd never properly filmed anything before this trip, never used a super 8 camera, let alone tried and tested this one, and hadn't edited any footage since my media class in high school over 7 years ago (which I probably failed.) I only managed to shoot one and a half cartridges of film before the motor in the camera died on me, so to find out the rolls I sent off to be developed had usable footage on them was a big relief.

While we were there we did the usual stuff tourists do in Bali, drank far too many bintangs each night, drove around as recklessly as possible on our scooters catching air off of small curbs and tearing up any driveway with a bank, surfed every day no matter how hungover and a couple of the team members skated at some of the better parks around Canggu.

I didn't exactly capture as much as I would have liked to, the scooter crashes, the skill of the team riders and the tattoos with incorrect spelling, but I learnt a lot and can't wait to go and film some more stupid shit.
